On December 8th, the Missouri Department of Health & Senior Services published a timeline for recreational marijuana to take effect. According to the timeline, the DHSS is already accepting requests from facilities to convert their operations to adult-use.
Basically, this means medical marijuana dispensaries will be given priority over others if they would like to sell to recreational users as well. Medical dispensary owners can request to convert their operation to adult-use.
Personal cultivation application forms will be available to the public starting January 7th, and the program’s rules will be finalized by February 6th, 2023. Personal cultivation applications will be accepted starting the 6th as well.
In June of 2023, micro-business application forms and instructions will be made available, and the first round of applications will be accepted from September 4th to October 4th. On December 3rd, 2023, the applications will be reviewed for eligibility and the second round will be accepted by June of 2024.
Micro-business applications will be reviewed again for eligibility in August of 2024 and the third round of applications will be accepted in March of 2025. Then, they will be reviewed again in May 2025.
This timeline is extremely helpful for Missouri residents who have been waiting for recreational marijuana for many years. However, there is still no firm date for recreational marijuana to become available.
