As the medical marijuana industry continues to boom in Missouri, we can expect additional growing and processing facilities to pop up in order to meet the demand of cannabis patients in the Show Me State. New businesses create healthy competition, which helps reduce marijuana prices. These facilities also create jobs for state residents, adding to the more than 5,000 Missourians currently employed in the cannabis field.
Many residents with a medical marijuana card will soon be getting their relief from facilities built by Kadean Construction, which has more than twenty million dollars of planned construction and design projects in the works for cannabis facilities throughout the state.
Kadean to Open Six New Facilities
Kadean Construction began throwing their hat into the cannabis ring as soon as medical marijuana was legalized in Missouri. The fifty-eight year-old company created a specialized Cannabis Design-Build Group that focuses exclusively on construction for the marijuana industry. With the addition of six new cultivation and manufacturing facilities, they hold over thirteen percent of licenses statewide.
Growth Expected to Continue
Kyle Wilson is a licensed architect who leads the Cannabis Design-Build Group. He predicts enormous growth potential in the state’s cannabis industry.
In an interview with the St. Louis Dispatch, Wilson stated “With more medical cannabis licenses being activated in Missouri and the possibility of Missouri approving recreational cannabis use in the coming years, we think there could eventually be a $1 billion construction market for cannabis facilities statewide.”
Other projects that Kadean construction has designed and/or built include facilities for BeLeaf in St. Louis and Earth City that encompass 43,000 total square feet, and another St. Louis facility for KindBio that covers 35,000 square feet.
New Marijuana Growing Facility in St. Louis
The twenty-two million dollars of job-creating construction includes an enormous 60,000 square foot space in St. Louis, which is being built for Proper Brands. Kadean is providing architecture services and construction management for the new facility that will include a special moveable rack system that will double the amount of flowering canopy.
More Facilities = More Jobs
Once construction culminates on these large facilities, the medical marijuana industry will be able to provide additional employment opportunities for thousands of Missouri residents. As the push for legalization of recreational cannabis use gets closer to reality, the possibilities of expansion and upward mobility are on the horizon, making the cannabis industry one of the nation’s fastest growing job fields.
Bigger Possibilities
Medical Marijuana isn’t going anywhere. As the state continues to benefit from cannabis tax revenue, it will be looking to expand the funding that medical marijuana provides. Recent court mandates have made it easier for non-Missouri business owners to move into the state’s cannabis market, meaning big money investors will be considering whether to bring their money to Missouri.
Competition Leads to Lower Prices
As the number of investors entering the medical marijuana industry rises to meet Missouri’s demand for relief, brands will be competing for customer loyalty. The real winner in this growing arena will be the cannabis patient. As more businesses pop up, the likelihood of lower medical marijuana prices will increase.
